Azja Kulpińska is an immigrant from Poland currently based in Narrm on the land of the Kulin Nations. Azja is a writer, zine-maker, Theatre of the Oppressed practitioner and community mental health worker. Azja has facilitated dialogical theatre and zine-making projects in Australia, Solomon Islands and Poland that explored narratives around identity, queerness, migration, displacement, mental health, intersecting systems of oppression and other topics. Azja and Timmah Ball have been working collaboratively since 2015 on producing zines (including Wild Tongue, which was originally launched at the Melbourne Fringe Festival 2016), and events. One of their most significant achievements to date has been remaining good friends despite alienating forces of neoliberalism and the constant pressure of navigating the intersection of arts and activism while trying to maintain their integrity.
